Paris Police 1900

Logo, typography

Despite being set in 1899, the TV show Paris Police 1900 is modern in many respects : corsets and pocket watches are worn, but photographs already exist, and heroin is being injected.
Hatred and stigmatization toward the Jewish community, as well as absolute contempt and violence against women, fill the news columns every day.
To create a logo that conveyed this modern while out of date feeling, we designed a condensed sans serif font, which echoes the front page titles of the time while remaining modern and relevant today.
The logo’s typeface was digitally drawn, then reproduced in linocut and printed by hand, to simulate the printing flaws of the time.
